Worth repeating this: the vast vast majority of the findings are just about repricings (i.e. spec changes means not increasing gas costs)
- Łukasz Rozmej
I think most of the gasłeft increases problems can be fixed and it is the EIP I proposed. Some repricings can be mitigated, but this cannot be fixed fully.

I’m not super involved with 8037 stuff, but what would be the cost of pulling it from the fork, and shipping glammy without it?
- Maria Silva
Replying to "I’m not super involv..." Not raising the gas limit
- spencer
Replying to "I’m not super inv..." Dont think we can! Also re testing everything
- Toni Wahrstätter
Right now it doesn't look like spec changes will needed, but better delay scheduling hoodi for now and give it (at least) two weeks.
- Maria Silva
Replying to "I’m not super involv..." That would be the biggest costs, IMO
- Barnabas
Replying to "I’m not super involv..." yes, without raising the gas limit
- gary
I hope we can ship 8037
- gary
otherwise, as maria said, we can't raise the gaslimit safely, making the optimizations (such as BAL) meaningless

Just for informational purpose, imo it’s very unlikely that we’ll want to do spec changes, we haven’t found anything meaningful in two days now, after finding basically all the known issues very quickly, and we have done quite a comprehensive analysis, involving at least one agent scan of every contract verified on Sourcify, and much more for high value contracts, plus a lot of other methods
- Parithosh Jayanthi
I still dont think we should start with a spec change, that should be a last resort
- Potuz
I've been putting more than a month straight in all models in a math problem and they still produce only crap

how probable is a new useful outcome from a nn that predicts most probable answer based on old knowledge? we still need brains to invent something new
- Toni Wahrstätter
Replying to "Right now it doesn't look like spec changes will needed, but better delay scheduling hoodi for now and give it (at least) two weeks." yeah agree, we should revisit it next week already
- Justin Traglia
- Toni Wahrstätter
Replying to "Right now it doesn't look like spec changes will needed, but better delay scheduling hoodi for now and give it (at least) two weeks." fredrik mentioned that we could wait until the dealine of the audits being done, those will take 2 weeks

- Fredrik
Replying to "Right now it doesn't look like spec changes will needed, but better delay scheduling hoodi for now and give it (at least) two weeks." I think the main question to me is how long to we give people to migrate away from immutable contracts on mainnet, my feeling is that hoodi upgrade date won’t make a big difference there?
- Potuz
I may run out of batteries, just want to express my support for this given the fork delay
- Justin Traglia
Reacted to "I may run out of batteries, just want to express my support for this given the fork delay" with 👍
- lightclient
Replying to "Right now it doesn't..." i feel like we’ve already pumped the brakes and engage some auditors. we might as well let the audits run
- Maria Silva
I agree we should wait. It would be worst if in 2 weeks, audits come with new findings and we need to change dates again

Replying to "Right now it doesn't..." it’s not ideal, but it is what it is
- Maria Silva
Replying to "Right now it doesn't..." Also, agree that the most likely delay will be from the contracts that need to upgrade and deploy before mainnet

General note, on devnets, kept running into getPayload timing on Reth, e.g., https://discord.com/channels/595666850260713488/892088344438255616/1554105035212718181

Yeah this I think will break FCU timings on Prysm
- Dustin
so they might also have been trying this strategy

does payload execution now have a deadline?
- Nico Flaig
lodestar calls at t=0 at least, if EL responds instantly we could call getPayload 500ms later if we anyway wait for builder response
- Dustin
Replying to "lodestar calls at ..." Yeah in some pathological scenarios where Nimbus doesn't fcu ahead of time it does this 500ms wait/delay
- Nico Flaig
Replying to "lodestar calls at t=..." just need to clarify the expectation whether EL should wait with response to produce a better payload or whether it should respond instantly
- Barnabas
fix 8037

can we discuss what the final form of the consensus spec’s gonna be? Can we expect shorter slots to be merged in this week ?

if that gives a rough consensus

can we merge into the feature then? outside of the main heze repo right?
- Barnabas
we have 4 implementations, isn’t that majority?
- Barnabas
Replying to "can we merge into th..." pls don’t
- Justin Traglia
Replying to "can we merge into th..." Yeah we can. Keep tests/changes in the feature.
- Barnabé Monnot
Replying to "can we merge into th..." to be clear i’m agnostic on the right solution, just seems like it’s in limbo right now, with open PRs, but obv happy with anything that works for the devs
- Nico Flaig
but we have it on our trunk and it's untested due to spec not being merged
- cayman
I would like to have some way to have several EIPs all stacked on one consensus specs branch, eg all of the EIPs for a devnet, don't care if its the main branch or some other branch..
- Matthew Keil
Sorry @Potuz I agree with you. No changing times
- Mario Vega
Replying to "we have 4 implementa..." This is tricky because anyone can implement, but agreement from the team is different IMO
- Toni Wahrstätter
Merging means everything coming after would need to build on top. This cements a proposal in while it's not SFI'd yet and is frontrunning a SFI decision.
- NC
Replying to "I would like to have..." yea like a devnet or interop branch or something
- Barnabas
Replying to "Merging means everyt..." no
- Barnabas
Replying to "Merging means everyt..." CL spec always did CFI -> spec release -> SFI
- cayman
Replying to "I would like to have..." well my preference is just one main branch
- Mehdi Aouadi
We did the same with FOCIL, it was tested but didn’t get merged until SFI’d. IMO we should do the same
- cayman
Replying to "I would like to have..." and revert EIPs that don't end up getting SFId
- Toni Wahrstätter
It does. Afterwards the decision is, "should we do the proposal or change all other features that were forced to build on top"
- Matthew Keil
Replying to "We did the same with..." agreed
- spencer
can we merge to main in CL with it being isolated from the main spec?
Call summary
Targets
- •ACDT #103 - November 9th (November 2nd skipped for Devcon) - 00:38:07
- •EIP-8037/8038 blast radius audit report - ~2 weeks from October 26th - 00:15:47

- •Shorter slots remain a feature branch; not merged into Glamsterdam spec until majority client agreement - 01:04:15
Highlights
- Organizational:
- ·ACDT #103 moved to November 9th; skipping November 2nd due to Devcon - 00:38:07
- Glamsterdam Epbs:
- ·Builder onboarding fix (PR #5736): only 0x0B-prefixed deposits credited to builders at fork; preserves deposit invariant for staking protocols - 00:25:33
- ·GetPayload timeout removed (execution-apis PR #958); EL should respond immediately, not delay for better block - 00:32:01
- ·Proposed gossip check: reject payloads where tx count exceeds gas_limit / MIN_TRANSACTION_GAS; needs spec PR - 00:49:18
- Eip 8037 8038 Security:
- ·Four breaking patterns identified: hardcoded gas, gas-left increases, refund path unlocks, repricing interactions - 00:13:01
- ·Francesco: no meaningful findings after comprehensive analysis including Sourcify contract scan; spec changes very unlikely - 00:22:20
- ·Łukasz's spec-change PR being reviewed; Maria decomposing into targeted per-invariant fixes rather than a bundle - 00:23:49
- Epbs Envelope Backfill:
- ·Builder signatures in BlobsByRange cannot be verified after builder exits; spec should clarify signature is unverifiable pre-checkpoint - 00:44:08
- Fork Status And Schedule:
- ·Hoodi fork delayed at least 2 weeks pending EIP-8037/8038 blast radius analysis - 00:14:43
- ·ChainSecurity + DWB audit ETA ~2 weeks; wait for results before rescheduling - 00:15:02
- ·Default path: affected contracts fix themselves; spec changes only as last resort - 00:17:05
- Consensus Spec Shorter Slots:
- ·No consensus to merge shorter-slots machinery into Glamsterdam main spec; remains a feature branch - 00:55:54
- ·Potuzz: spec changes not needed for testing; maintainers should tag a branch off main for devnet targets - 01:00:26
- ·Defer decision to ACDC; majority client agreement required before merging into Glamsterdam spec - 01:04:15
Action Items
- •Sam (Nimbus) - Open consensus-specs PR clarifying envelope signatures are not verifiable during backfill - 00:47:36
- •Nico Flaig (Lodestar) - Open consensus-specs PR for GetPayload transaction count gossip check with MIN_TRANSACTION_GAS constant - 00:54:50
- •All teams - Review PM PR #2284 (process improvements to reduce future security surprises) - 00:16:25
Key decisions
Hoodi fork scheduling delayed minimum 2 weeks; revisit after audits complete
Delayed pending blast radius analysis of EIP-8037/8038 and audit results from ChainSecurity and DWB.Builder onboarding fix (consensus-specs PR #5736) approved and will be merged this week
Ensures only 0x0B-prefixed deposits are credited to builders at fork to preserve deposit invariants for staking protocols.GetPayload timeout definition removed (execution-apis PR #958 already merged); EL must respond immediately
Execution Layer should respond immediately rather than delaying for a potentially better block.Shorter slots remain a feature branch; not merged into Glamsterdam spec until majority client agreement
Decision deferred to ACDC; requires majority client agreement before merging into the main Glamsterdam specification.
